It's been many years since I sat down and built a model.  This area of my website will follow my building progress and my thinking behind each step.  The plan here is to build a good looking model however; I do not plan to take more then 6 weeks or so.  With that said, time is also a factor.  While this is a great way to relax and exercise eye/hand coordination, there are other things in life as well.  I do not plan on starting a TV series with this model, just create a conversation piece.  Some of the links to the right have great information on model building as well.

Let's get to it.....             Star Trek Funny

The Model - Polar Lights edition NCC-1701-A

This model can bee build as a 1701 or the refitted 1701-A.  I see very minor differences in the two but I have a long way to go.  I used part number 26 as a testing piece for paint an glue.  I used part number 27 for the Secondary Hull.

My first question was "why put decals or paint on the inside of this model?"  After all, who's going to see it?  Well as it turns out, you will be able to peer in and see deep into the Shuttle Bay and through a side window, observe the Arboretum.

Next, there are tiny window holes that require even smaller clear plastic windows to be glued to them.  I say, why not just omit the gluey mess and leave the small windows whole as it is? I will put windows in where I think I can without jeopardizing the clear plastic or the exterior finish of the pre-painted model.

I've spray painted the interior parts light grey and the exterior a darker grey.  Not sure if I will bother with the "Aztecing" of the hull but that's a subject I'm sure will be covered at a later time.

I found these tiny paint brushes I used to paint the arboretum and the glue I use is either CA or this environmentally safe stuff the sales guy sold me.  I'm not quite sure which one I like best so I'm using both for now.

STAY TUNED...................More Pictures Here
